Sports

Sports

Sport plays an important role at KingsView School.  All our students are encouraged to take part in a wide range of sporting activities each term including swimming, sailing, golf, athletics, ball skills, snow sports and more…  Like other schools, we utilise the fantastic local facilities that Queenstown has to offer as well as embrace inter-school sport days.

We focus on a different main sport each term and supplement this with additional activities. For instance in the Spring term we feature both golf and athletics with our pupils enjoying both track and field events at the Queenstown Events Centre.

Golf is organised by the golf professionals at Frankton golf course five minutes walk from school and it features a fabulous programme of not only all the skills in the game of golf but also all the other aspects of good sportsmanship.

Other terms we focus on swimming and water safety skills and the younger children are taught in the teaching pool whilst the older children take part in activities in the large lap pool with life rafts and an inflatable boat. The Winter term’s main emphasis is skiing and the whole school spend 6 Fridays up at the Remarkables ski field with both skiing and snow boarding on offer. Daily there is a strong focus on ball skills and most break times the pupils have the opportunity to play soccer and other games. Our older pupils get to experience cricket coaching, cycling activities and a camp.

Many of our pupils belong to sports clubs outside of school ranging from tennis to rugby, cricket, hockey and netball. Sport and good sportsmanship are an integral part of KingsView’s curriculum.
